What is College Boarding Pass?

College Boarding Pass Inc. (CBP) is a charitable, educational, public benefit organization incorporated in the State of New York with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

CBP is a volunteer-based organization, funded entirely by generous public support.

College Boarding Pass, Non Profit,

CBP provides outreach and travel scholarships

for low-income and traditionally underserved youth to visit and interview at local, regional, and national institutions of higher education, thereby allowing college ready students to demonstrate interest to those schools, and to learn if they are a good fit.

College Boarding Pass was founded by Nina Kellner,
a college student from Long Island, New York. Nina believes…

“It simply isn’t fair that many students can easily drive out-of-state or fly across the country to explore college opportunities of their choosing, while other academically strong kids don’t have access to a car to visit schools in their local area, let alone afford a plane ticket to travel hundreds of miles.”

CBP Scholarship Recipient Visits Cornell University

Chance was dying to see Cornell University and Ithaca College. Through online research and discussion with reps at college fairs, Chance determined that these were two of the best-fit colleges for him. All he needed was to see the colleges in person, but money was the obstacle. This year,  the Chess in Schools College Bound Program partnered with College Boarding Pass to offer a travel scholarship to one deserving senior. Chance delivered a stellar application and his visit to Ithaca and Cornell became a reality.

“My visits to Cornell University and Ithaca College were amazing! The environment emanates a studious, relaxing space, which is where I’d thrive best. I am grateful to CIS College Bound and College Boarding Pass for making this trip possible!”
