College Boarding Pass Inc. (CBP) is a charitable, educational, public benefit organization, incorporated in the State of New York with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. CBP is a volunteer-based organization, funded entirely by generous public support.

CBP was founded in October 2018 by Nina Kellner of Long Island, New York. At the time, Nina was a high school student with college on her mind. The organization was born out of Nina’s belief that all students, even low-income students, who demonstrate high levels of academic achievement deserve a chance to visit and interview at the colleges of their choosing.

“Choosing a college is a big deal. How can someone be expected to choose the right school without having the opportunity to visit first?”

We work in partnership with youth-serving college readiness organizations, to identify the most capable and deserving recipients of our travel scholarships. Our partners play a critical role in ensuring that the generous philanthropic donations raised through CBP are well placed, and that grant recipients are well supported in their travel.

Mission

CBP provides outreach and travel scholarships for low-income and traditionally underserved youth to conduct college visits and interviews at local, regional, and national institutions of higher education to not only demonstrate interest to those schools, but also learn if they are a good fit to spend the next four years of their lives attending a college of their choice also known as a “dream” school.

Vision

We believe that full access to an excellent education is the only way to end despair and disparity for low-income families, and students from these backgrounds should know about the importance of planning, preparing for, and conducting, multiple college interviews and site visits, both locally and nationally. We also believe that when young scholars have the necessary funds readily available to make such visits, they will be able to make the best possible choices about where and what to study.

Values

College Boarding Pass exists to level the playing field for academically qualified low-income and traditionally underserved youth, so that they may gain equal access to the best possible educational opportunities without barriers. We value honesty, integrity, transparency, equity, diversity, inclusion, and will conduct our activities  with the highest legal, moral, and ethical standards.
